Submitted by Mr. Roger Wagner – Desert Wind Middle School Instrumental Instructor

(Maricopa) On Saturday, March 3, Ms. Tanya Hobt (Maricopa Wells Middle School), Mr. Ivan Pour (Maricopa High School), and Mr. Roger Wagner II(Desert Wind Middle School, with the help of Desert Wind band student volunteers and MHS Marching Band Leadership students, hosted MUSD's first Elementary Instrument Fitting Day. Future band and orchestra students had the opportunity to try out a variety of instruments with the help of MHS Marching Band Leadership students. They were fit to the instrument they were most interested in and complemented their physical features. Ms. Hobt and Mr. Wagner organized their class registration information to ensure they receive the correct band or orchestra class on their schedule. Representatives from Milano Music were on hand to arrange for instrument rental and ordering of supplies so students will be prepared for their day of band or orchestra on July 23.

Mr. Wagner shared "We were really pleased with the event and we received positive feedback from all students, families, and groups involved. We were able to fit many students to the instrument that best suits them, while also being able to take care of some program administration (preparing schedules, instrumentation, etc.). This event represents continued growth for the programs at Desert Wind, Maricopa Wells, and all of MUSD Music."
